Cityville Cheats Guide - Make it Green

In December, CityVille received the new Greenhouse feature, giving you a way to plant  multiple crops everyday in a smaller amount of space, thereby freeing up space on your land for new homes and businesses. Apparently, that one went over fairly well as another Greenhouse has been released in the game: the Late Bloomer Greenhouse, to be exact.

You'll need to be at least Level 20 to unlock this Greenhouse, but you won't need to have built any other Greenhouses in your game to access this one. It costs 50,000 coins to purchase from the store, and it will hold up to 14 farm plots inside once it's built. The base takes 10 energy to construct, and you will need to collect a variety of building materials to finish it off:

5 Green Tarps
5 Rain Barrels
5 Tray Inserts
5 Plastic Trays
5 Round Composters

These items come from a combination of individual requests sent to neighbors and general news posts on your wall, or they can also be purchased with City Cash. Once you've completed the building process, you can click on the building to pick a "Medium-Term Crop" to grow inside. As the Late Bloomer Greenhouse can be upgraded (collect 10 each of the above building materials), it's initial capacity is just eight plots, but it will eventually hold 14. You can only plant a single kind of crop in the Greenhouse, but this will count towards crop mastery and any goals that ask you to plant that specific one. Some of the crops you can plant are Corn, Cabernet Sauvignon Grapes, Pineapples and Cabbage, as examples.

Unfortunately, Level 2 is as far as you can take this specific Greenhouse as of this writing, but I'd imagine further upgrades will be launched in the future, if enough users adopt this feature as is. We'll make sure to let you know if and when that happens.

Cityville Cheats Guide - Better Inventory Menu

Why? Because they actually make your CityVille inventory usable - imagine that! While  changing the way items are counted in our inventory was one thing, Zynga looks to finally be ready to overhaul the inventory system in CityVille, giving us a chance to store double the items, sort items by category and type and more. Unfortunately, if you want this feature immediately, you'll have to pay for it.

Now, before we all storm the proverbial castle with our torches and pitchforks, keep in mind that these updates will eventually be available to everyone "soon." In the meantime, if you want any of them, you'll need to shell out 30 City Cash for the instant access. When this feature does roll out, we'll be able to store up to 4,000 items, rather than 2,000, but that's just the first of the upgrades.

With the new upgrades, we'll be able to sort items by category, like "Community Buildings," "Consumables" (like energy batteries), "Residences" and even "Recent," which will sort your items based on the time they were added to your inventory. Want to pull out that statue you just received for finishing a goal? Well, you would no longer have to search through page after page of items - just look at the "Recent" tab and voila! It will be right there.

Unfortunately, a search option isn't available in this new setup, which is downright mind-boggling when considering that even a game like Pioneer Trail, which has just as many (if not more) items that could possibly be in one's inventory has a search menu (the actual function of that search option notwithstanding). Could it be that search will be added later? Perhaps, but the immediate lack of it is disappointing to say the least.

Also, there's no telling whether or not this window will save our places when browsing. In the inventory menu's current state, being forced to scroll through pages of items when using more than one of the same item is annoying at best, and even with these category sorters, that still might not be enough if someone tends to hoard items for future use. Once this starts to roll out to users for free, you can be sure that will be the first thing we check.

Cityville Cheats Guide - Finishing the Great Pyramids

So, you've slaved away in CityVille for weeks, and have finally finished the Moscow Mansion,  Venetian Palace and Shanghai Center, and are ready to build the Great Pyramids wonder in your town. Luckily, you can now do just that and will receive a pretty cool bonus in the process.

Once you finish all three of the above buildings, you'll be able to place the actual Great Pyramids structure in your town. This building comes with three temporary bonuses that can be activated like an Attraction (that is, you can collect Keys to recharge these boosts, or wait for a lengthy timer to "cooldown" automatically). The three boosts are:

10 Payout on Vacation Homes
5x Payout on Regional Buildings
+25% Payout to all other Businesses

Each time you wish to receive these bonuses (and the Great Pyramid isn't currently cooling down), you'll need to start these effects by spending three energy. From there, you have three minutes to collect as much bonus cash in your city as possible, by simply collecting from businesses and homes that fall into the above categories. The Great Pyramid doesn't need to be sitting next to something to work, as it works across your entire town. However, keep in mind that unlike Attractions, you can only have one of these Wonder bonuses active in your town at once (you can also extend its bonus by purchasing more time with City Cash).

All told, this is an incredibly functional new building, but whether or not it's truly worth dropping everything else to complete will be up to you. This feature doesn't appear to have a time limit, so if you've yet to start working on any of the three buildings required to unlock the Great Pyramids wonder, I wouldn't worry about it. Just come back to it when you're ready and it will be waiting for you.

Cityville Cheats Guide - Create Next in Game Character

While Zynga has been known to throw contests in CityVille, asking players to decorate their towns to a certain theme, or even simply post on the game's official forums, a new form of player interaction has launched this week, with the CityVille development team asking for the community's help in designing the next CityVille character.

Like Sam or Ruth, this new character will come to us for goals and will be found in in-game artwork. We'll have a chance to design what this character looks like through a series of surveys and character mock-ups. To be specific, over the next few weeks, Zynga will post surveys on the game's official forums asking questions about what you think the character's gender or age should be, as just two examples. In fact, those two questions are already available in this activity's first survey.

Sure, Zynga could throw out the most popular answers and we'd never know, but according to this feature, the options that are chosen by the majority of the community will help to form the game's newest character, and in the case of questions concerning the character's ethnicity or marital status, can even help shape the sorts of activities he/she will take part in once they arrive. If nothing else, this is an incredibly interesting attempt by Zynga to engage users outside of gameplay itself, and I for one can't wait to see what we all come up with.

Cityville Cheats Guide - Winter Castle

While you might think that CityVille should have already started on its Valentine's Day  celebration (hey, FarmVille's already doing it), we're instead given a new feature dealing solely with winter: The Winter Castle. This Winter Castle is available to users level 30 and above, and comes via a goal called "Castle in the Snow." This one asks you to place and complete the Castle, collect from an Ice Tower three times and collect from 20 Winter-themed businesses.

Since that's a lot going on, let's tackle things one by one. The Winter Castle is an upgradeable building that requires you to collect building parts to upgrade. After spending 12 energy to build the frame, you'll have to collect 35 materials to just finish the base Castle:

7 Ice Blocks
7 Ice Trees
7 Ice Shingles
7 Ice Tools
7 Ice Weather Vanes

These items are earned through a combination of general news posts on your wall and individual requests sent to friends. You'll be on a timer of three days to complete this task, and if you can collect all of these parts in time, you'll receive an upgraded "Premium" Winter Castle that has better stats. If you run out of time, you can try again to build the regular Winter Castle. The regular Winter Castle has a population of up to 3,050 citizens, while the Premium Winter Castle can offer up to 4,350 citizens, depending on how many of those random moving van bonuses you receive over time.

As for the Ice Tower, this is a large community building that you may or may not have already placed and completed in your town. Its base requires 10 energy to build, and you'll need to ask 12 friends to come work as staff once you're finished. It gives your city a maximum population boost of 4,250 possible citizens.

Finally, for the Winter Businesses task, you'll be able to collect from buildings like the Holiday Bakery, Holiday Tree Lot, Cozy Cafe, Rocking Horse Shop and more. If the business seems like it could be classified as a winter (or Christmas) business, there's a pretty good chance it will work here. Just keep track of your total so far to know if a particular business counts or not.

When you finally finish all of these tasks, you'll finish the Castle in the Snow goal, and will receive 20,000 coins for your trouble. Is that a worthy prize, for the amount of work you've put in, potentially building two complete structures from scratch? You tell us.

Cityville Cheats Guide - Global TV Network

A lengthy new feature has launched in CityVille this week, asking you to complete four goals in a new Global TV Network series. This feature comes with a new building to construct, and also rewards you with a special apartment building at the end. As usual, we're here with a guide on how to complete these four goals, claiming all of the game's prizes along the way.

Global TV Network!
Ask friends for 12 Business Cards
Complete the Global TV Network Building
Collect from 40 Shipping Routes

Business Cards are earned through a general news post placed on your wall. Meanwhile, the Global TV Network building has a base that requires eight energy to build. Once that's done, you'll need to ask your friends to come work inside the building, until you've acquired 16 staff members in all. Finishing the Global TV Network building gives your city a population cap boost of 1,700 citizens. When you complete this goal, you'll receive 25,000 coins and five Energy.

Breaking News
Collect 15 News Reels
Increase Population by 2,000
Collect from 60 Businesses

It doesn't matter which businesses you collect from, so long as you do so from 60 in total. Also, it doesn't matter how you increase your population, so feel free to build as many or as few homes as you'd like, with all sorts of different stats, or even collect from existing homes to receive random population moving vans. TIP: As with previous goals, it's presumed that if you store 2,000 citizens worth of homes in your Warehouse before this goal begins, you can pull them back out of storage to count towards this task. Regardless of whether you take the easy path or not, finishing this goal gives you 300 XP and five energy.

Channel Surfing
Collect from Television Tower 3 Times
Have 6 Phone Towers
Collect from Apartments 30 Times

The Television Tower has been available in CityVille since February of 2011, but if you've yet to build one, you just need to ask seven friends to come be staff inside. Meanwhile, the Phone Towers are decorations (each with a 5% payout bonus) that can be purchased from the store for 4,000 coins each. When you finish this goal, you'll receive 25,000 coins and five energy.

We're On the Air!
Collect from Global TV Network 4 Times
Collect 50 Resumes from Residences
Send 50 Tour Buses

The Tour Buses are of course found when helping out in your friends' cities, and you can also ask your friends for the Resumes, if you'd rather not wait for them to spawn in your own game at random. Finishing this final goal gives you the Bushwick Apartments, a housing unit that offers 1,000 - 1,960 population for your town. You'll be able to collect 194 coins in rent from the building every two hours.

This is a pretty hefty goal series, but there doesn't look to be a time limit on completing it as of this writing. That being the case, take your time with each step so that you don't become overwhelmed. After all, CityVille is a game, and it stops being one when you're not having fun. Good luck!

Cityville Cheats Guide - Santa Claus is Coming to Town

If you're a bit of a procrastinator in Zynga's CityVille, or just simply haven't had a chance to  finish all of the game's Christmas features due to other responsibilities, this is your seven day warning. At the end of the next week, the big man in red will back up shop and will head back to the North Pole for another year, taking his goals and other features (those that haven't been removed already, that is) with him.

This apparently includes the Save the Holidays event (all three Acts), and the ability to expand out into the Holiday Town expansions in your city. The Giving Tree, Santa's Sleigh and more will all vanish from the game if you've yet to complete them, so this is definitely the time to drop everything else you're doing and start working on this, if you have any desire to do so.

Unfortunately, the folks at Zynga haven't confirmed whether or not this deadline also applies to some of the timed goals in the game, like the Let's Go Sledding goal, for instance. We'll make sure to let you know if we find out just how far this deadline stretches, but for now, starting helping Santa before it's too late!
